Biography

Irina Perfilieva earned her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in applied mathematics from Lomonosov State University, Moscow, Russia, in 1975 and 1980, respectively. She holds the distinguished title of Professor Honoris Causa from the Amity Institute of Information Technology, Noida, India, and Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Latvia, Riga, Latvia. Currently, she serves as a Full Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Ostrava, Ostrava, Czech Republic, and concurrently acts as the Head of the Institute for Research and Applications of Fuzzy Modeling within the Theoretical Research Department at the University of Ostrava. Dr. Perfilieva has authored and co-authored six books on the mathematical principles of fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic. Additionally, she has co-edited one book and numerous special issues of scientific journals. Her prolific contributions extend to over 270 papers covering multivalued logic, fuzzy logic, fuzzy approximation, and fuzzy relation equations. With two patents in the domain of time series processing and Internet service techniques, her expertise is further demonstrated in practical applications. She is also integral to the Program Committees of leading international conferences and congresses focusing on fuzzy and knowledge-based systems. Recognizing her significant contributions, Dr. Perfilieva received the International FLINS 2010 Conference Award for Foundations and Applications of Computational Intelligence. In 2012, she was honored with the 1st Memorial Da Ruan Award, and in 2013, she was elected as an EUSFLAT Honorary Member. Her dedication and achievements were further acknowledged with a special prize at the Seoul International Inventions Fair in 2010.
